As spring warms up and the temperature difference between day and night gradually increases, Xiaodongjiang at Dongjiang Lake Scenic Area in Zixing City welcomed its first morning mist scene of the year on March 30. Stretching for kilometers, the river was shrouded in gossamer-like mist. Green hills, clear water, ethereal fog and fishing boats formed a ink-wash wonderland, kicking off this year’s fog viewing season.
The fog at Xiaodongjiang is a natural spectacle. It forms when cold lake water at the bottom of the Dongjiang Dam meets warm surface air, causing water vapor to condense into advection fog.
From April to October each year, the enchanting scenery of mist-enveloped Xiaodongjiang attracts tourists and photography enthusiasts from all over the country, making it a shining ecological tourism brand of Zixing.
