The Arts and Crafts Street, located in Dongjiang Subdistrict of Zixing City, is one of the key projects for the 2026 Chenzhou Tourism Development Conference. Its construction kicked off on March 5. The project The project is now progressing smoothly and is scheduled for full completion and operation by the end of May this year.

On March 27, workers were busy with their respective tasks: some focused on building walls and sealing door openings, while others were erecting the staircase between the second and third floors. The installation of some shop windows and the production of shop doors were also underway.

As of now, the water and electricity supply for the project has been successfully connected, and preliminary work such as wall demolition, debris removal, and staircase construction from the first to the second floor has been completed. The overall construction is steadily progressing according to plan.

Covering a construction area of 2,185 square meters, the project has revitalized idle state-owned assets worth 5.085 million yuan, effectively driving 50 million yuan in social investment. This has achieved efficient utilization of idle resources and sound integration with the cultural tourism industry.
The project plans to lease 20 shops. Currently, 7 merchants have settled in, alongside four associations focusing on calligraphy, fine arts, arts and crafts, and calligraphy-painting by veteran cadres.“The project aims to explore Zixing's local culture, develop indigenous cultural and creative works, highlight the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage, and build an art cluster and characteristic cultural block integrating the display of intangible cultural heritage crafts such as dough modeling, pottery, carving, paper-cutting, calligraphy and painting, the sales of cultural and creative products, and immersive tourism experiences,” said Li Zhiwei, director of the city's tourism service center.

Upon completion and operation, the project will strictly follow the "experience-oriented, inheritance-focused, and employment-driven" operation principles, further advance the in-depth integration of culture and tourism in Zixing city, improve weaknesses in the cultural tourism sector, and inject new momentum into the high-quality development of the tourism industry.
