Dongjiang Lake is located in the upper reaches of Dongjiang River in Zixing City of Chenzhou City. Due to the special microclimate of warm winters and cool summers formed for the large water body, honey oranges produced here have thin skin, much flesh, and much juice, with an average sugar content of 14 to 16 degrees.

Dongjiang Lake honey oranges are popular in the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and are also exported to Russia and other countries in Southeast Asia.
For many years, honey oranges have been the main industry for residents in the Dongjiang Lake Reservoir area to increase their income. In Qingjiang Town of Zixing City, the average annual income of orange growers exceeds 100,000 yuan.
