Day 1 Yuefeng Village, Xiaobu Village, Tashui Village

Yuefeng Village

The Chenyang Highway and Tupo River run through the entire village. The village has won many honors such as the national rural governance demonstration village and the provincial demonstration village for beautiful countryside.

It is a typical ethnic minority village, and the Yao ethnic folk customs of Longxingyao Art Community have become a unique cultural symbol of the village.

Xiaobu Village

Xiaobu village is a cultural ancient village with a history of over 600 years, with 56 ancient buildings in the Ming and Qing dynasties. There are also a number of study bases such as Yuanhengjia Sci-tech Innovation Center, Xiaobu village agricultural cultural creation museum, a golf course and a picking base.

It is located 15 kilometers from the city center of Chenzhou, with Chenzhou Avenue spanning the entire village and Beihu Airport to the north, making transportation very convenient.

The village has developed projects such as Zhiqing Hotel, Luling Homestay Inn, and strawberry picking garden based on the Xihe Rural Revitalization Demonstration Belt and by the opportunity of the Hunan Tourism Development Conference.

Nine dishes of Yao nationality are the traditional dishes of Yao people, with all ingredients from the cold mountainous areas in the southwest of Beihu district.

Day 2 Feitianshan Village, Qingjiang Village, Gaoyiling Village

Feitianshan Village

The village boasts picturesque scenery, with Danxia Landform, undulating mountains, and numerous towering trees. There are one canyon, two mountains, three natural bridges, four stockaded villages and five ferries in Feitianshan Village.

Feitianshan Village has a long history. There is the Ouyang Family Ancestral Hall with a history of 100 years, and the Salt and Iron Ancient Road with a history of 1,000 years.

In recent years, historical sites such as Stone Buddha Temple, Hydrological Cliff Carvings, and Huang’s Jiacheng Tomb have gradually been excavated.

The ancient street of Wayaoping reproduces the prosperous commerce and trade a thousand years ago. Jiulong Water Village has a popular bamboo rafting route. And there is a high-end homestay cluster along the Cuijiang River, with 60 agritainments, 20 homestay inns, and 120 shops.

Recommended dishes

Making oil tea (which is a unique Yao dietary custom) is an indispensable part of the daily life of the Yao people in Chenzhou. Every day, they get up early to make oil tea. Initially, it was a food for preventing diseases, dispelling dampness and cold, and quenching thirst.

Later, it became an important way of social life for the Yao people, the highest courtesy for entertaining distinguished guests. It’s a part of “traditional Chinese tea-making techniques and related customs”.

In 2022, it was included on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The oil tea in Wayaoping is made from the local vine tea of Chenzhou. It is prepared with fried glutinous rice flowers, stir-fried peanuts or soaked soybeans, corn, fried rice and fresh tea.

Deep-fried crispy cake is a specialty breakfast in Chenzhou city.

Local people first grind local rice into rice milk, and then add appropriate amount of salt and gourmet powder to the rice milk. Minced pork, beef, pickled radish, chili, scallions and others are also added into it. The cakes filled with shredded radish and minced pork are the most popular.

It is considered authentic to fry the crispy cake in camellia oil.

Gaoyiling Village

Gaoyiling Village is a demonstration village for beautiful countryside and rural revitalization in Hunan Province.

In recent years, Gaoyiling Village has promoted the magnificent transformation of the rural landscape through a development model integrating scenic areas, industries and environment.

Gaoyiling is a tourist destination that features Danxia landform, which integrates mountains, waters, springs, caves, villages and cliffs.

Qingjiang Village is adjacent to Feitian Mountain National Geopark, with abundant tourism resources and convenient transportation. Rural tourism is a major industry in the village, with 38 homestay inns and three Internet-famous campsites.

There are many entertainment projects such as Twin Tree Starry Sky Camp, rose garden, succulent botanical garden and Fengzhengling parent-child amusement park, making it a popular weekend getaway for citizens.
