The former residence of Deng Sanxiong is located in Nanya Village of Yangshi Town, Chenzhou City. Deng Sanxiong is a pioneer of the peasant movement during the Great Revolution. His residence is an important historical witness to the Xiangnan Uprising.

The residence, a brick and wood building with overhanging gable roofs, was built in 1912, with a total area of 492 square meters and 25 rooms. The courtyard is spacious and connected by corridors, serving as a secret contact point for Deng Sanxiong's revolutionary work.
Deng Zhongkang, a tour guide, introduced, “Back then, Deng Sanxiong secretly contacted the key members of the farmers’ association here and formed a peasant armed force of over six hundred people, providing a strong revolutionary force for the Xiangnan Uprising.”

Deng Sanxiong, born in 1895, studied martial arts from a very young age and had lofty aspirations in his youth. At the age of 16, while studying in Changsha, he witnessed the tragic scenes of warlordism and the common people displaced and homeless, so he resolutely abandoned his studies and joined the army, devoting himself to the Northern Expedition.
Inspired by the progressive ideology, he joined the CPC in 1925. The following winter, he returned to his hometown and formed a peasant self-defense force of over 600 people, becoming an important revolutionary force in the southern Hunan region.
In 1927, Deng Sanxiong was elected as the representative of Guiyang county and attended the joint military conference of Guiyang, Yongxing, Chenxian, Leiyang, and Yizhang counties held at Donghua Mountain, planning the year-end uprising.
In June 1928, in order to cover the transfer of his comrades, Deng Sanxiong was besieged by enemy forces at Maozaiyan in Leiyang .
At the time of running out of ammunition and food, he resolutely engaged in a life and death struggle with the enemy using his bare hands. Eventually, he was captured due to being outnumbered and died heroically at the Yangbuping stage at the age of 33.

Due to Deng Sanxiong's participation in the revolution, his father, brother, and sister-in-law were all brutally killed by the reactionary forces.
In recent years, Deng Sanxiong's former residence has been well protected and developed for utilization. In 2019, the former residence was selected as a provincial-level cultural relics protection unit.
Nowadays, it not only serves as a witness to the revolutionary history, but also an important place for patriotic education.
Deng Jing, director and party branch secretary of the Village Committee of Nanya Village in Yangshi Town, said: “We have repaired 25 houses, collected more than 200 revolutionary cultural relics, received over 20,000 tourists last year. We also promoted the development of homestay inns and Red cultural and creative products among villagers. By 2024, the collective income of the village exceeded 800,000 yuan.”
