Over 100 drilling machines manufactured by Dawei Intelligent Equipment Company in Jiahe High-tech Zone of Chenzhou City were being shipped in succession to Vietnam recently.

These are part of the products from the 60-million-yuan order signed by enterprises during the Dongguan International Machine Tool Exhibition in October.

He Yong, Party secretary of the CPC Jiahe County Committee, introduced that the “Jiahe County Drilling Machine Industry Cluster” has been identified by the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology as a target for cultivating characteristic industrial clusters for small and medium-sized enterprises, and so efforts will be made to promote the transformation and upgrading of the equipment manufacturing industry to high-end.

Jiahe County, known as a casting capital in Jiangnan area and the hometown of forging and casting, produces 40% of the province's castings.

However, the local casting and forging industry has always been “large but not strong”. To break through the development bottleneck, based on precision casting and forging, the local government has certified CNC machine tools as the core engine of industrial upgrading, striving toward high-end equipment manufacturing.

It has made efforts to consolidate and strengthen the foundation of the real economy. The Tantang and Longxing industrial parks of Jiahe High-tech Zone together with Tangcun's “Precision Casting Town” have formed an “Iron Triangle” pattern for the local casting industry . At the same time, more than half of the enterprises in Jiahe High-tech Zone produce the five major components and parts of machine tools, supported with suppliers of sheet metal and major spare parts, so that an entire CNC machine tool can be produced just within the park.  

In the process of transformation and upgrading, some of top 100 machine tool enterprises in China have been introduced through targeted measures to promote the industry to leap towards “deep processing and complete machine assembly”, and vigorous efforts have been made in investment attraction to strengthen and extend the industrial chain.

The county government has introduced a series of reward policies to encourage intelligent, green and integrated development.

For instance, a one-time reward of 200,000 yuan is given to newly recognized national high-tech enterprises. For those who successfully become national and provincial-level science and technology demonstration bases, 500,000 yuan and 200,000 yuan will be awarded respectively.

Currently, the industrial cluster has gathered 27 high-tech enterprises, 1 national “little giant” enterprise, 1 provincial single-champion enterprise, and has established 4 provincial-level technological innovation platforms.

Many technological achievements have won national and provincial science and technology progress awards. The digital transformation results are also remarkable, with the availability rate of industrial internet platforms reaching 93.72%.

With its excellent quality, the “Jiahe made” CNC machine tools have covered the core industrial areas such as the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta, and have extended to the major manufacturing bases in China. Some high-end models have even been exported overseas.

In the first half of this year, the output value of the CNC machine tools-related industries in this county reached over 1.8 billion yuan.
