In the midst of summer, the Dazhonghe Lithium Mine Industrial Square in Jijiao Mountain, Linwu County, is bustling with activity. In May of this year, a transportation artery with a total length of 7.3 kilometers connecting the mine and the concentrator plant was completed.

“The transportation distance has been shortened from 20 kilometers to 7.5 kilometers, and the cost per ton of ore has dropped by nearly 10 yuan,” said Lei Jing, the chief engineer of Jizhushan Mine of Hunan Dazhonghe Lithium Mine Co., Ltd..
This all-weather operating corridor’s innovative downward transportation belt can also generate electricity for the system's operation.

In the first half of the year, there was a steady flow of good news in the lithium battery industry in Linwu County. Shanghai Anneng obtained the first lithium mining license in Chenzhou and the second in Hunan Province. The discovery of a super large lithium deposit by Dazhonghe Company has attracted widespread attention. The lithium battery industry chain project with a total investment of 16 billion yuan is advancing at an accelerated pace.

The annual production of 40,000 tons of lithium carbonate base has completed an investment of 500 million yuan. After the first phase of the mining and selection line with an annual processing capacity of 12 million tons is put into operation next year, the annual output value of the entire system can reach 3.6 billion yuan.
At the Hunan Lithium Resources Innovation and Application Conference held in June, Linwu county signed 9 projects with 7.95 billion yuan in investment, achieving significant results in strengthening and supplementing the supply chain.
Innovation in the industrial chain goes beyond the field of mining. In the laboratory of Hunan Joysun New Energy Co., Ltd., the R&D team is focusing on the research and development of solid-state sulfide batteries.
“Once all solid-state sulfide batteries are mass-produced, their safety and cycle life will achieve a qualitative leap,” said Sun Xiangdong, deputy general manager of the company.
Joysun New Energy deepens industry-university-research cooperation and focuses on tackling core technologies. Its three cutting-edge research achievements, including semi-solid metal lithium negative electrode batteries, were released at the Round-table Conference on Innovative Application of Lithium Resources in Hunan. The mass production of semi-solid batteries is around the corner.

Li Rui, deputy secretary of the Party Working Committee of Linwu High-tech Industrial Development Zone, said, “Taking Joysun as a model for cooperation, Linwu High-tech Zone is making efforts to promote the technological breakthrough of the entire lithium battery industry chain, and it has made important progress in the research and development of solid-state batteries and the comprehensive utilization technology of lithium slag and tailings.”
