2026-04-14

The 14th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (the “Expo” or “MITE”), organized by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), kicked off at the Macao Golden Light Convention and Exhibition Center recently. The expo attracted over 700 tourism-related enterprises and official institutions from 59 countries and regions from worldwide.

As a frontier city connecting Hunan with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Chenzhou made its appearance with its picturesque scenery and wellness resources.

The “Jinxianzhai traditional Jiancha (Pan-Fried Tea) technique”, a municipal-level intangible cultural heritage project in Beihu District, was promoted as a highlight and showcased at the exhibition area of intangible cultural heritage and the Chinese mainland stage.

The Jinxianzhai traditional Jiancha technique is a folk intangible cultural heritage technique that has been passed down in the vicinity of Yangtian Lake in the Qitianling Mountains of Beihu District.

Its core content includes the collection of wild medicinal tea, the production of tea cakes and tea powder (tea extract), pan-frying techniques, as well as related specific folk activities. It has a history of more than 800 years of inheritance.

The reason why this technique can become a highlight at the expo is the rich folk customs and tourism resources in Beihu District.

This year’s MITE lasts for three days and features over 1,500 booths under the theme of “Global Convergence, Future Horizons”. More than 130 different themed activities including tourism promotion events, industry forums, workshops and performances were held.

It has attracted enterprises and institutions from multiple APEC member economies such as Malaysia, Thailand and Chile to participate, facilitating in-depth cooperation and exchanges in the tourism industry.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China organized an exhibition area with the theme of "Hello! China", showcasing the national tourism image. The delegation from Hunan Province, along with 17 other provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), participated in this national-level exhibition.

Hunan focused on displaying its world-class cultural tourism and intangible cultural heritage resources.
