Beihu District’s efforts to promote innovation-driven development of industries

Beihu District of Chenzhou City has been carrying out the action of empowering sci-tech innovation to promote the innovation-driven development of industries.

The graphite industrial cluster in Beihu District has been listed as a target for cultivating characteristic industry clusters in Hunan province.

Five projects, including the polymer functional new material industrial park, have been included in the provincial key industry layout, and the technological transformation project of the photovoltaic display industry has entered the provincial special database.

Beihu District has formulated the “Implementation Plan for Technology Innovation Empowerment Campaign in Beihu District”, clarified that the deputy district head in charge is the responsible leader, and established a special team office.

It has actively built a high-tech enterprise innovation cultivation system involving policy support, precise cultivation and factor guarantees, continuously improved the echelon cultivation chain for technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises and high-tech enterprises and technology leading enterprises.

It has also promoted cooperation between more than 20 high-tech enterprises with universities and research institutions such as Hunan University, Central South University, and Xiangnan University.

At the same time, it has implemented an open competition mechanism to select the best candidates to strengthen the cultivation of innovative institutions.

It has guided Xintianling Tungsten Industry to actively carry out research on screening and gravity separation combined beneficiation process of a scheelite. It has organized Huaxin Cement to apply for provincial and municipal joint scientific and technological research projects. It has organized Baifu New Energy Company and

Hunan University to apply for the technical needs of major sci-tech research projects in the sustainable development demonstration area in 2025.

It has actively reached out to Professor Huang Shoudao’s team from the College of Electrical and Information Engineering of Hunan University to build the Nanling Renewable Energy Innovation Institute.

It has guided Eco Living (Chenzhou) Intelligent Control System Integration Co., Ltd., Zhejiang University and Aalto University to establish Sino-Finnish ultra-low temperature environment application research institute.

It has also introduced the academician team of the Finnish Academy of Engineering to build a national “ultra-low temperature R29 refrigerant explosion-proof enthalpy difference laboratory”.

In the first half of this year, Beihu District reported a total of 225 million yuan in R&D investment, an increase of 24.2% compared to the previous year. The amount of registered technology contracts reached 3.517 billion yuan, ranking second in the city. The fiscal expenditure on science and technology was 104.82 million yuan, an increase of 46.63% compared to the previous year.
