Chenzhou Municipal Hospital of TCM

The Chenzhou Municipal Hospital of TCM was established in June 1957. It is the only comprehensive Grade 3A TCM hospital in Chenzhou City, affiliated with Xiangnan University.

It is a national standardized training base for resident TCM physicians, a training base for general practitioners to transfer jobs in Hunan Province, a teaching hospital for Hunan University of Chinese Medicine and Hunan Traditional Chinese Medical College, a project unit for emergency and first aid capacity construction in Hunan Province, a designated business guidance and cooperation hospital for Guangdong Provincial Hospital of TCM, and an emergency network hospital in the central urban area of Chenzhou.

In 2020, it was designated as one of the first provincial-level regional TCM diagnosis and treatment center construction units, and a demonstration hospital for public rescue training in Hunan Province.

The hospital enjoys convenient transportation. It is located at 503 Qingnian Avenue in Chenzhou City, serving as a main traffic artery to Zixing and Yongxing. It boasts   elegant environment, with WiFi available and hotel-style wards.

It offers cross-provincial and intra-provincial settlement services to inpatients as well as settlement services to inpatients with basic medical, maternity and elderly care insurances in Chenzhou City. It has also signed agreements with related departments of the city, districts, and counties, according to which the medical bills of employees and residents purchasing basic medical insurances can be directly settled. It is a designated medical institution for work-related injuries at the provincial and municipal levels.

There are 740 employees in the entire hospital, including 1 with a doctoral degree, 33 with master’s degrees, 19 with senior professional titles, 107 with associate senior professional titles, and 272 with intermediate professional titles.

At present, the hospital has one doctor introduced through the “121” talent project in Hunan Province, two provincial-level famous TCM practitioners, seven city-level famous TCM practitioners, seven young and middle-aged famous TCM practitioners in Chenzhou, and 16 hospital-level famous doctors.

The hospital has 646 beds and 27 clinical departments, including the Department of Critical Care Medicine, the Department of Emergency, the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, the Department of Classics, the Department of Pulmonary Diseases, the Department of Spleen and Stomach Diseases, the Department of Cardiology, the Department of Encephalopathy, the Department of Oncology, the Department of Otolaryngology, the Department of Medical Cosmetology, the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery, the Department of General Surgery, the Department of Urology, the Department of Proctology, the Department of Neurosurgery, the Department of Dermatology, the Department of Galactophore, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Department of Pediatrics, the Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Massage, the Department of Rehabilitation, the Department of Stomatology, and the Department of Physical Examination, and 12 medical technology departments, such as the Department of Medical Imaging, the Department of Ultrasonography, the Department of Medical Examination, the Department of Pathology, and the Department of Intervention.

The Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology and the Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Massage are key specialties of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the Department of Classics is a national key specialty construction and cultivation project. The Department of Encephalopathy, the Department of Pulmonary Diseases, the Department of Oncology, the Department of Dermatology, the Department of Geriatrics, the Department of Rehabilitation, and the Department of Critical Care Medicine are provincial key TCM specialties, and the Department of Dermatology, the Department of Emergency, and the Department of Pulmonary Diseases are municipal key TCM specialties.

The hospital’s internal, external, women’s, and children’s clinics are open all year round, and characteristic clinics have been set up, like the first TCM internal medicine “nodule clinic”, the insomnia MDT clinic, the characteristic TCM nursing clinic, the TCM orthopedic massage clinic, the integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine obstetrics and gynecology diagnosis and treatment center, and the endoscopy center.

The hospital has complete facilities and first-class laboratories in Chenzhou City. It has over a hundred top-notch medical devices, including the first imported Siemens 256-layer ultra-high end dual-source CT system, GE’s 1.5T fiber optic magnetic resonance system, the gyro knife tumor radiotherapy system, Philips’ high-end full body color ultrasound diagnostic instrument, and the TCM meridian detector.

The hospital insists on treating patients mainly using traditional Chinese medicine, combined with western medicine. It takes the lead in the city in the technologies of critical care medicine, classics, and orthopedics, especially with unique therapeutic effects on difficult and complicated diseases. The Departments of Classics, Orthopedics and Traumatology, Oncology, Encephalopathy, Acupuncture and Moxibustion Massage, Dermatology, Ophthalmology and Pediatrics enjoys a high reputation in the local area, with obvious characteristics of TCM and good treatment effects of integrated Chinese and Western therapies.
