Zixing Wuling Agricultural Civilization Museum in Zixing City reopened to the public after renovation on July 14, attracting many citizens and tourists.
The Wuling Agricultural Civilization Museum is located on the bank of Dongjiang Bay in Zixing City. It is an important node along the boutique tourism route of “touring Dongjiang Lake Scenic Area in the day and staying overnight in Huilong Mountain Scenic Area” in Chenzhou, and also a popular place for study tours of Hunan’s agricultural culture.

Agricultural objects such as plows, oil pressing tools, and iron striking tools, as well as scenes such as rice paddies, forest huts, oil mills, and blacksmiths in the museum vividly showcase the folk customs and agricultural production in the Wuling region.
Since its official opening to the public in September 2010, the museum has received nearly 200,000 domestic and foreign tourists annually. However, due to its age, there emerged many problems like monotonous exhibition, outdated facilities and some safety hazards. Therefore, the museum had been closed for quality improvement and renovation since May 13 this year.

A highlight of this renovation is an interactive movie screen with an area of about 30 square meters, and a multimedia science popularization video “The Life of Rice” was produced, presenting the integration of culture and technology.
Dynamically presenting agricultural culture and displaying cultural relics through multimedia audio and video formats not only improves the audio-visual interaction effect in the museum and enhance the tourist experience, but also enables tourists to get a better sense of popular science knowledge, understand the historical evolution of agricultural development in the Wuling area.
Next, the museum will take advantage of the interactive viewing screen to regularly carry out diversified cultural activities such as “Exploring the Colorful Wuling Agricultural Culture” and “Understanding the Life of Rice and Cherishing Grain from Me”, so as to further enrich study tourism formats and promote the high-quality development of Zixing's tourism industry.

13 sets of standard glass display cabinets were also newly added to ensure that all precious cultural relics are displayed in a standardized manner. At the same time, the damaged wooden handrails and benches were repaired and reinforced, and the steps leading to the museum were widened and reinforced.
In addition, the museum enriched the content and renewed the props of the original farming scenes, and replaced all signage.
