Chenzhou Library is a national second-level library. Established in October 2008, it was opened to the public in August 2009. It’s located on the second to third floors of the city cultural center in Wuling Square, with a construction area of 8,000 square meters.

The library has multiple departments such as book lending, comprehensive reading room, children’s reading room and local literature and reference consultation. And it also has 4 24-hour self-service libraries in the city.

The library houses 440,000 books, over 200,000 e-books, and over 60,000 characteristic books like those about local history, local chronicles, atlases, historical materials and genealogies.

Together with famous cultural enterprises like Chaoxing, Ximalaya and CNKI, an online “mobile library” was set up on the official Wechat account of Chenzhou Library, with 100,000 special books, 7,100 full-text publications, 350 newspapers, 2,013 types of audio books, over 3,000 classes of famous teachers, over 2,800 episodes for children. It also has a special database for Red culture, containing more than 10,000 articles, journals, academic degrees, conference papers and other types of resources.
