The North Campus of Chenzhou Third People’s Hospital has launched a drone medication delivery service recently. By virtue of low-altitude point-to-point direct delivery, it has precisely addressed the difficulties in medicine collection faced by people with mobility impairments and those who have trouble traveling, opening up a new “air channel” for convenient medical services.
Currently, the hospital’s drone delivery service mainly focuses on the distribution of decocted traditional Chinese medicine. The delivery area covers a 6-kilometer radius around the hospital, with a delivery fee of 15 yuan within this area.
This not only improves the delivery efficiency but also does not add extra economic burden on patients, truly benefiting patients.
In the TCM pharmacy of the hospital, staff members properly seal the freshly prepared traditional Chinese medicine decoctions, place them in special insulated delivery boxes, and then transport them to the drone take-off point within the hospital.
After completing a series of standard procedures such as setting flight route parameters and conducting pre-flight safety checks, the drone carrying the medicines takes off smoothly and flies towards the patient's home or the designated pharmacy collection point according to the preset route.
Compared with traditional delivery methods, drone delivery can effectively avoid urban traffic congestion, achieve direct delivery of medicines by air. The entire delivery process supports real-time tracking and intelligent scheduling, greatly improving the delivery efficiency.
In the future, this service will gradually expand to more delivery scenarios such as common medications for chronic diseases and emergency auxiliary medicines, so as to cover more patients in need.
