The opening ceremony of the patriotic education base of Fengjia Primary School in Haotang Town, Guiyang County was held on October 15. Over 100 people participated in it.

This marks an important Red culture education platform in Guiyang County, providing a vivid classroom for all cadres, villagers and young people in the county to learn revolutionary history and inherit revolutionary spirits.

Fengjia Primary School, formerly known as Yangzheng School, was newly built on its former site in 1934. During the revolutionary war era, this was the location of the secret liaison station of the CPC Chenzhou Special Committee and the headquarters of the fifth detachment of the Xiangnan Guerrilla Force.

He Daqun, deputy secretary of the Xiangnan Working Committee and director of the Political Department of the Xiangnan Guerrilla Corps in the Hunan-Guangdong-Jiangxi Border Region, once carried out underground work under the cover of teaching at Fengjia Primary School, making important contributions to the peaceful liberation of Guiyang County and Jiahe County.

In 2014, the former site of Fengjia Primary School was listed as a county-level cultural relic protection unit. In 2018, it was included as a construction project of patriotic education base. The local government invested more than 2 million yuan to repair the main building. After passing the acceptance inspection in 2019, it was opened to the public for free.

In 2025, the government of Haotang Town renovated the exhibition hall of the base, and it was included in the county-level patriotic education base of Guiyang County in September.

In the future, the patriotic education base will further strengthen its construction and management, promote the organic integration of red education with cadre training, youth study tours and other activities.

Relying on the all-round tourism and rural revitalization strategies, it will strive to be a high-quality patriotic education base with wide influence, injecting lasting impetus into the inheritance of the red genes and rural development.
