Chenzhou Zhongnong Wholesale Market Phase II to go into trial operation this October

A national investment promotion and operation event for the fruit and vegetable trading center, the Phase II project of the Chenzhou Zhongnong Wholesale Market was launched on June 13.

As a key provincial and municipal project, the Chenzhou Zhongnong Wholesale Market covers an area of 500 mu (about 333,333 square meters), with a total construction area of 350,000 square meters and a total investment of 1.5 billion yuan.

The center to be built in three phases will become a leading one-stop agricultural wholesale trading center in China.

After the project is fully operated, it is expected that the annual trading volume will exceed 6 million tons and the sales will exceed 15 billion yuan, and it will create job opportunities for 20,000 people.

At present, the first phase has been in operation for nearly 5 years, effectively radiating to the borders of Hunan, Guangdong, Jiangxi, and Guangxi provinces, becoming a super large one-stop full format agricultural product distribution hub in the region.

In 2024, the center achieved the total transaction volume of 6 billion yuan and the passenger flow of 4.38 million.

With a total construction area of 120,000 square meters, the Phase II project covers trading areas for high-quality fruits, imported fruits, vegetable and other products. It’s equipped with cold chain chain storage and sorting centers, procurement parking areas and supporting commercial facilities.

It is planned to be fully completed in September this year and officially open for trial operation in October.

At that time, a new one-stop procurement pattern for all types of agricultural products such as vegetables, fruits, aquatic products, grains and oils will be formed, providing downstream buyers with more convenient, efficient, and diverse procurement choices.

The trading center has put much money to upgrade hardware facilities. About 150 million yuan has been invested in the “City Refrigerator” alone, equipped with advanced cold chain logistics systems, intelligent trading systems, etc., to ensure the freshness of fruits and the convenience of transactions.

Once put into operation, the Phase II project will further enrich business forms of agricultural products in Chenzhou, improve circulation efficiency, strengthen the ability of regional agricultural product supply and stable prices, provide more convenient and efficient services for buyers and consumers, and continue to promote the high-quality development of modern agriculture and livelihood security in southern Hunan province.
