A Contemporary Chinese Painting Exhibition of Six Artists opened at the Chaozhou Art Museum of Chaozhou City in Guangdong province on the afternoon of January 24.

The exhibition showcases masterpieces by artists from Chenzhou, Chaozhou, as well as Beijing, Changzhou, Hefei, and Ji'an, serving as a cultural bridge for Hunan-Guangdong exchanges through calligraphy and paintings.
This joint exhibition is a vivid practice of deepening regional cultural collaboration and responding to the strategy of building the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
It also serves as a concrete measure for Chenzhou to promote its cultural works to other places and connect with the GBA.

In this exhibition, the expressive landscape works of a local artist Xie Risheng garnered much attention. Drawing inspiration from the renowned local scenery such as Dongjiang Lake and Mangshan Mountain in Chenzhou, his works vividly capture the unique allure of the southern Hunan scenery, embodying both the essence of traditional ink painting and contemporary aesthetic expression.
His distinct regional characteristics and masterful techniques have been widely praised, and his piece “Chenzhou Landscapes” has been permanently collected by the Chaozhou Art Museum.

Additionally, five artists —Zhan Wen, Zhao Ziteng, Chen Hongda, Zheng Hai, and Yang Jianbing—from Chaozhou, Beijing and other three cities showcased their unique strengths, exploring contemporary expressions of traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy in the subjects of figures, flowers and birds, and landscapes with diverse styles and exceptional craftsmanship.
The exhibition presents a feast of calligraphy and painting that blends the cultural elements of northern and southern China, as well as tradition and innovation.
The exhibition will last till February 24, 2026 (the eighth day of the first lunar month), and will be open to the public for free in Halls 1, 2 and 3 of Chaozhou Art Museum.
It is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors and become a popular spot for cultural exchanges between Hunan and Guangdong during the Spring Festival.
