Themed evening party for intangible cultural heritage held

A themed evening party for intangible cultural heritage was held at Guiyang Cultural Park of Guiyang County, Chenzhou City on the evening of September 19. Inheritors showcased ancient paper making, Xiangnan wood carving and exquisite paper cuttings with technological methods.

The event includes stage performances, interactive experiences, displays, night market, and other sections for science popularization.

The evening party kicked off with a lively performance of selected segments from the passionate Hunan opera “Zhao Zilong Taking Guiyang County Through Strategy”. The inheritor of Hunan opera introduced the weapons used in siege warfare, and their scientific principles during the Three Kingdoms period to the audience, allowing them to know more about cold arms.

The opening event also incorporated the unique “mining and metallurgical culture” of Guiyang County, allowing visitors to experience the historical development of mining and metallurgical skills up close.

Afterwards, inheritors of Taiping Kiln firing, Xiangnan wood carving, ancient paper making, and exquisite paper cuttings, gave performances on the stage.

Dai Xiaoming, the inheritor of Xiangnan woodcarving, brought the wooden carving work of “Double Dragons Playing with Pearls” with mortise and tenon structure, and introduced the principle of mortise and tenon structure and its application in modern furniture.

Li Yanqing, the inheritor of Paper Cuttings, a municipal intangible cultural heritage, came to the scene with the “Five Blessings” Paper Cuttings, and explained to the audience the secrets of how to make Paper Cuttings colorful, moisture-proof, flexible, and long-term preservation from the behind-the-scenes techniques such as moisture-proof, and enhancing toughness.

There were non-heritage experience and science popularization stalls at the night market. The experience areas of pottery, papermaking, and paper-cutting were bustling with visitors, who experienced the production process and unveil the scientific mysteries hidden in the production details. Through interactions, games and   stamps collection for rewards, tourists left with a wonderful impression of the integration of scientific exploration and culture.
