To promote the story of “Half of A Quilt”, the original youth Red musical “Waiting for You in Shazhou” will premiere on the morning of September 16 in Shazhou Lecture Hall of Shazhou Branch of Chenzhou CPC Municipal Committee Party School.
The musical is based on the true story of “Half of A Quilt”, vividly depicting three female Red Army soldiers who stayed overnight at Xu Jiexiu’s house and formed an indissoluble friendship.
Upon leaving, they cut half of their only quilt and gave it to Xu Jiexiu, which deeply moved Xu Jiexiu. Xu Jiexiu waited for them for more than 50 years just for the words “we will come back when we win a victory.
The drama is created based on the real-life setting of Shazhou Village, where the story takes place, and deeply integrates local Red resources. With “watching and remembering” as the main theme, it will evoke deep resonance among audiences.
The musical has created a new typical image of three female soldiers. Their personal backgrounds and destinies have been merged into the historical tide, making the originally unknown soldiers approachable, respectable, and touching.
Another major artistic highlight of the play is the personified “little cotton” as the narrative thread. The white little cottons make this Red musical full of youthful elements, breaking through the serious framework of traditional revolutionary historical themes, and giving the stage a poetic and youthful atmosphere.
