The unique landscape of the red rock layers interweaving with the cement road in the Mahuangqiu Grand Canyon in Feitianshan Town of Suxian District, Chenzhou City attracts countless tourists.

Mahuangqiu Grand Canyon, formed in the late Cretaceous period, records the history of the Earth’s evolution with a 5-kilometer-long red rock wall. With a vertical drop of nearly 300 meters, it preserves the continuous strata of ancient lake sediments from 67 million years ago.

Seasonal streams, like natural carving knives, accelerate erosion during rainy seasons and promote sedimentation during dry seasons, continuously shaping the unique Danxia landscape.

This canyon was transformed into a window to display geological wonders in the last century.

In 1960, more than 1,000 builders used steel chisels and shovels to chisel a road on the cliffs. This road, with a total length of 21.151 kilometers, connects multiple Danxia peak forests.

The unique Danxia landform and red cliffs make this place known as the “most beautiful Danxia Highway in Chenzhou”. Moving forward along the canyon, one can see mountain forests, stockaded villages, Danxia and karst caves.

12 check-in spots, including Chuantan Site in the Ming Dynasty, are connected, plus the newly built No.1 campsite, music festival venue, and equestrian experience project along the road, which has driven the development of more than 30 characteristic homestay inns in the surrounding areas.
