Linwu county is known as the hometown of nonferrous metals, with 46 solid minerals discovered and 22 of them initially in places. The lithium oxide reserves exceed 5 million tons, with enormous potential economic values.
In recent years, the county government has made efforts to build a battery industry capital. Relying on its abundant lithium mineral resources, it will focus on building the whole lithium battery new energy industrial chain, further extend the industrial chain, and strive to achieve a total output value of over 20 billion yuan in the county’s lithium battery industry this year.
In Hunan Anneng Qisheng New Energy Technology Company, bricks made of lithium mica are being sent to the baking furnace. After special processing, they are finally turned into lithium carbonate, which is used to make lithium batteries. It can produce 25,000 tons of lithium carbonate annually.
Three years ago, the company came from Shanghai and became the first enterprise in Linwu county to build a lithium battery new energy full industrial chain. It plans to invest 40.6 billion yuan to build a raw ore processing production line with an annual output of 30 million tons, a concentrate beneficiation plant with an annual production output of 3 million tons, a lithium carbonate production line with an annual production of 15,000 tons, and a 50 GWh lithium battery production project.
Liu Guowei, general manager of the company, introduced that the beneficiation production line with an annual output of 3.6 million tons has entered the final stage of commissioning and optimization, and it is about to be put into production soon.
At the same time, the first 25,000-ton production line for lithium carbonate of the smelting project (Phase I) has been fully put into operation. And the construction of the lithium battery and positive electrode material project test line plant and equipment research work have also been completed.
After the project is fully put into operation, it is expected to create over 3,000 job opportunities.
In 2022, the county also signed contracts with Dazhong Mining, Corun, and Wiling Shares for lithium containing polymetallic ore resource mining, lithium carbonate processing, and lithium battery production projects, with a total investment of 102.4 billion yuan.
At the same time, through investment from various means like business, industry chain, and festivals, a large number of key enterprises in the entire lithium battery industry chain, such as Lionteam New Energy and Hunan Xinwanrun, have been introduced.
Hu Yuping, deputy secretary of the Party Working Committee of Linwu High-tech Industrial Development Zone, said that the county government has made efforts to develop new quality productive forces, leverage its abundant lithium resources, take the lithium battery industry as a strategic emerging industry, and focus on industrial layout, scientific innovation and industrial cluster to accelerate the pace of building a battery industry capital.
At present, there are 28 lithium battery enterprises in the Hunan-Guangdong Linwu Battery Industrial Agglomeration Zone.
While focusing on industries, industrial parks and enterprises, the county government has also explored innovative business environment reforms.
It helped Anneng Qisheng obtain the city’s first lithium mining license, deepened cooperation between colleges, local enterprises, and promoted the mass production of Jiusen Angao solid-state batteries. A series of practical measures have eased the worries of enterprises.
At the same time, it has joined hands with the Guangdong Battery Industry Association and Hunan Joysun New Energy to build the Hunan-Guangdong (Linwu) Battery Industry Agglomeration Zone, and worked closely with the Tongji University Professor’s Studio to develop a 10-square kilometer battery industry development plan with high standards.
Nowadays, with the increasingly improved industrial and supply chains in Linwu County, it’s attracting more and more high-quality enterprises.
