There is a campsite newly built by Chenzhou Agricultural Science Institute in Xiaobu Ancient Village of Baohe Yao Township, Beihu District, Chenzhou City.
The fruit and vegetable base of Chenzhou Agricultural Science Institute has more than 400 types of fruits and vegetables.
Tang Hui, who’s in charge of the base, came to Xiaobu Village in 2020 and gradually expanded the planting scale of such fruits as mulberries, blueberries, peaches, and crispy persimmons after careful variety selection.
Relying on the technological advantages of the institute, the fruits in the base are very popular, attracting many tourists to come and experience fruit picking. But Tang Hui found that these tourists couldn’t stay and would go elsewhere to find a place to have meals after picking.
She then decided to develop the base into a rural tourism destination that integrates picking, dining and leisure.
She transformed the two abandoned ponds and swamps by the river into a self-service firewood kitchen and a pizza kiln, plus a parent-child interactive area, allowing tourists to enjoy the fun of picking and cooking by themselves.
The base has seen a new peak in passenger flow again after building the wood-fired stove was built. During holidays, there is a constant stream of people coming to the base to engage in parent-child activities, participate in team building activities, and experience rural life.
Tang Hui even launched the Mulberry Leaf Banquet, featuring a number of dishes made with mulberry and mulberry leaves such as mulberry leaf cakes, mulberry leaf jelly and mulberry vinegar, winning favor from tourists.
