A local villager said that it’s no easy task to carry these Ling Zhi mushroom bags up the mountain. Now, there are over 10 villagers working here every day, and they can plant over 600 mushroom bags a day, with a daily wage of over 120 yuan. 

 

Since last year, Rongjiadong Forest Farm has introduced the Yongxie Planting Professional Cooperative, which has domesticated Ganoderma lucidum mushroom bags with local wild strains. 

 

Based on the successful trial planting of red Ganoderma lucidum last year, this year it plans to plant the black Ganoderma lucidum on a large scale. Red Ganoderma lucidum is mainly used for harvesting spore powder, while black Ganoderma lucidum is mainly used for fresh food or processing. 

 

 

More than 300 mu (20 hectares) of Ganoderma lucidum will be planted in batches under the trees of the Rongjiadong State owned Forest Farm, and it is expected to be harvested by the end of September.

 

At present, led by the cooperative, a local industrial pattern integrating the cultivation, processing, and sales of Ganoderma lucidum has been formed. The products cover multiple categories such as Ganoderma lucidum wine, Ganoderma lucidum slices, and Ganoderma lucidum tea, which are sold well throughout the country and deeply loved by consumers. 

 

“Ganoderma lucidum grown in a wild environment has superior quality, with an average yield of 100 kilograms per mu (0.067 hectares) and an output value of about 50,000 yuan per mu. 

 

 

 

It is expected that the entire base can bring more than 10 million yuan to the cooperative, and the benefits are very considerable.”

 

 

 

Huang Fenglan, the chairman of the cooperative, added that the cooperative will develop towards the integration of agriculture and tourism, seize the opportunity of  the Chenzhou Tourism Development Conference to be held in Yizhang to expand the planting area, enrich Ganoderma lucidum products, and improve the popularity and reputation of Ganoderma lucidum products through parent-child study tours and other means.”
