A reporting team composed of China Meteorological News Agency and many other central media organizations arrived in Chenzhou on May 12 for a meteorological themed interview activity. They will deeply explore the vivid practices and outstanding achievements of Hunan’s meteorological authorities in serving ecological civilization construction and high-quality economic and social development.
Chenzhou is located at the intersection of the Nanling Mountains and Luoxiao Mountains. The unique geographical conditions, which have created the picturesque scenery made up of blue water, Danxia landform and mist-enveloped Dongjiang Lake, also cause frequent meteorological disasters such as typhoon, rainstorm, snow and ice.
To cope with complex and changing climate conditions, the meteorological department of Chenzhou City has established a full chain prevention and control system, achieving full coverage of meteorological warning information in key areas and continuously improving the efficiency of disaster emergency command.
In terms of cultural and tourism integration, Chenzhou has developed characteristic landscape products such as mist-shrouded Xiaodongjiang, sea of clouds and rime scenery in Mangshan Mountain Scenic Area, and sunrise and sea of clouds in Huilong Mountain Scenic Area.
In addition, 19 sets of automatic weather stations have been installed in tourist attractions at 3A level and above in the city. The weather service information is dynamically released through the “Tourism Weather” program, Douyin, official account and other platforms.
During this year’s May Day holiday, accurate sunrise and sea of clouds forecasts helped the Dongjiang Lake Scenic Area receive a total of 385,100 visitors, a year-on-year increase of 78.63%.
