At the oilseed rape base of Gaoze Planting and Breeding Professional Cooperative in Jin’gui Town, a harvester is operating at full capacity. After threshing and cleaning, oilseeds are directly loaded onto the truck, while the crushed stalks are scattered evenly over the field as fertilizers.

He Guangze, head of the cooperative, said: “we adopt the rice-oilseed rotation mode, and after harvesting, we will plant middle-season rice.”

Mechanized harvesting can complete harvesting, threshing, and cleaning in one go, while the straw will be crushed and returned to the field.

This not only reduces the environmental pollution caused by burning straws, but also improves soil structure by increasing soil organic matter, providing natural fertilizers for subsequent rice planting and forming a green cycle model of “rice-rapeseed rotation”.

A harvester can harvest about 50 mu (3.33 hectares) of oilseeds per day, which can save time and labor costs.

In recent years, the county government has vigorously promoted the rice-oilseed rotation mode, and promoted mechanization of oilseed planting through multiple measures such as benefit farming policies, introduction of advanced agricultural machines and technical training.

This year, the total area of rapeseed planted in the county reached 235,000 mu (15,666.67 hectares), with a machine harvesting rate of over 85%. It is expected to be fully harvested before May 25.

He Guangze added that oilseed rapes are growing well this year, with thick stems and full pods. He planted more than 5,000 mu (333.33 hectares) this year, and the yield per mu (0.067 hectares) is about 100 kg, which is a significant increase compared to last year.
